Here's the three pieces of paperwork needed after you finish the on-line renewal of your membership:

  1. Junior Player Medical Release  (bring to Registration--do not mail to Region Office)
  2. Grievance Procedure read it--this solves many problems before they happen.
  3. Arkansas Jr. Player-Parent Agreement-Emergency Release Form

Above forms are PDF "fill-in" forms so we don't have to read your lousy handwriting (and you know who you are.)  Fill them out on your computer.  In Adobe Reader, just "Select Text" then move your cursor.  Print it out.

Complete & print ALL of these forms PLUS your membership renewal confirmation and take to registration with $100 check made payable to "YMCA JOVB."  Do Not mail this information or your check directly to the Delta Region office.

Explanation of optional fees appearing on on-line registration:

  • $5.00 High-Performance donation will be paid directly to the national HP program (not the Delta Region program) to support Youth National Team and A2 & A3 camps.  If you check this option, you are obligated to pay the $5 fee.  Most members would prefer to make donations to Region-based programs and will NOT check this box.
  • Extended officials' insurance: $6.85 additional fee is ONLY for PAVO officials (not ANY junior officials)  Do not check this box.

Can't do On-Line Registration?  Here's a link to Manual Registration Forms

I've never played Junior Olympic Volleyball before.  What do I need to do?

1)  Review this web site and read details about the estimated costs and time commitment to play on the Arkansas Jrs. Volleyball program.  Be sure you love the sport enough.  It's not for everybody.  You might also visit with the parents of existing and previous players for their input on J.O. Volleyball.

2) Come to the Registration/Orientation Meeting on Sunday, November 15 at 2:00 p.m. at Allen Park Community Center.  Cost is $100 per player.  You and your parents will have the opportunity to ask questions and make a final decision.

3)  Register with USA Volleyball on-line.  You cannot get on the court until registration is completed and all forms are completed.  You can pay the $40 membership fee on-line or bring a $40 check to registration.

Will everybody be placed on a team?  Not likely-- Tryouts are a necessity.

Limited gym space and availability of quality coaches prevent our program from accepting every athlete-candidate.  Tryouts for players in the 12s, 13s, 14s, 15s & 16s age groups are always a necessity, but we try to keep all 10s candidates (assuming we can successfully split into multiple teams)   Tryouts typically consist of skill testing, game-like drills and a review of athleticism, attitude and spirit.  Players (and their families) must be prepared to commit through the end of their team's season.  Attendance at practices and tournaments is not optional.

These limitations DO NOT PERMIT players who are not chosen for elite teams to continue to practice with the program. Volleyball is the ultimate team sport and efforts must be expended on those athletes in preparation for their team's success.

I'm a first-time player (or I'm a parent who heard about this JO Volleyball thing from my daughter, who said she wanted to play and I have no idea what I'm getting into.)  How do I sign up for J.O. Volleyball?

  1. Read through this web site.  Most of your questions will be answered
  2. Sign up for E-mail to get important information before registration & during the entire J.O. volleyball season.
  3. Take a look at the age groups to determine in what age group you will be joining.  As an example, most freshmen play in the 15s, but check birthdate requirements to be sure.
  4. Review the Program Costs & Fees for the financial obligation of the program.
  5. Review the tournament schedule for an example of the travel requirements.  This program requires quite a bit of dedication.  You'll have to review your schedule of other activities & sports.
  6. Review the Grievance form and understand it.
  7. Talk to some former parents & players NEAR you daughter's age.  We can provide references.
  8. Fill out the registration forms on-line, print them & get ALL the signatures & bring to registration on Sunday, November 15 at 2:00 p.m.
  9. 13s-18s:  Wear athletic clothing to the registration--we'll be doing some measurements & testing to gather information on our candidates. 10s & 12s will not be doing athletic workouts during the registration.
  10. Bring a great attitude!

Still uncertain about all of this?  Come to the registration meeting, complete your forms and come to a couple of practices.  If you decide J.O. volleyball isn't for you, we'll refund your registration fee (not the USA Volleyball membership fee.)

If you have further questions, call club director Joe Williams at 932-6722 or e-mail joew@arkansasvolleyball.com--but only after you've read through the web site.
